KARACHI: Karachi police on Friday arrested from Shafiq Colony in Federal B Area a person while he was trying to eliminate the body of an 8-year-old boy he allegedly murdered after raping him.
A police official said the person was getting to eliminate the body but was intercepted by the residents. Upon discovering the body, his relatives to dam the most road in protest.
The victim, Haris, had gone missing in Shafiq Colony, Block-22 of Federal B Area, at around 6:30 pm on Thursday, the area’s police station Officer (SHO) Farrukh Shaharyar said. The officer added that a primary Information Report (FIR) wasn't filed. The family had instead made announcements at the local mosques.
The residents saw a person carrying something during a cloth bag made out of a bedsheet. They got hold of him and discovered the boy’s body within the bag, consistent with the officer. The officer further said that they reportedly held a ‘jirga’ to settle the difficulty .
The body had bruises on the neck and was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy.
A medico-legal officer (MLO) at the hospital confirmed that the boy has been raped before being murdered. He said they need found some evidence suggesting he was sexually assaulted but await a chemical examination report that might confirm the rape.
Police registered a case against the held suspect on the complaint of the victim’s father on charges of murder and rape.
During the initial probe, the suspect sometimes admitted to having raped and killed the boy but at other times denied doing so, the SHO said.
The body was handed over to his family after the checkup for burial.
